How to play · 15 balls
One Pocket
The chess game of pool. Each player owns one corner pocket, and only balls in your pocket count.
- Balls
- All 15 plus the cue ball
- Rack
- Triangle, any order
- Pockets
- The breaker picks one of the two foot corner pockets. The opponent gets the other.
- Goal
- First to 8 balls in your pocket
The break
The break is usually soft and defensive, steering balls toward your pocket and leaving your opponent nothing to shoot.
Playing
- Any ball can be played on any shot. Only balls in your own pocket score for you.
- Balls that go in your opponent's pocket count for your opponent, even on your shot.
- Balls that fall in any of the other four pockets are spotted back on the table.
- You keep shooting as long as a ball goes in your pocket.
Fouls
- A foul costs one ball: spot one of the balls you've already made. If you have none, you owe one.
- Scratches, missing all balls and no cushion after contact are fouls.
- Three fouls in a row usually loses the game.
Winning
The first player to get 8 balls in their own pocket wins.
